Pirates' Collins had tough draw
Comments 0 | Recommend 0WINSTON-SALEM — Swansboro’s Casey Collins came out victorious Friday in his first match in the heavyweight class of the NCHSAA 2-A individual tournament at Joel Coliseum with a 12-8 win over Colton Palmer of Wilkes Central, but came up short in the quarterfinals by being pinned by Jacob Lewis of South Stokes in 44 seconds.
“I think he had a tough draw,” said Swansboro head coach Ben Reichert. “He looked good in his first match. The kid (Lewis) from South Stokes is pretty tough and Casey has a good chance to come away with a third place medal today.”
In the 171-pound division, Scott White lost to Kenny Harris in the first match 17-4. But White bounced back to beat Travis Smalln, of Pisgah 5-4.
In his next match, White will face the same wrestler he lost to last week in the Regionals.
