Vikings improve to 10-10

The Daily News

WILMINGTON - With the 3-A playoff spot from the Mideastern 3-A/4-A Conference title in White Oak's hands, head coach Dirk Cline wanted his guys to gain momentum before the state playoffs.

The Vikings did that by coming away with a 6-3 win over Ashley on Tuesday.

"This is the second time we beat them," Cline said. "Anytime you beat any Wilmington school, you can brag about it."

David Mazzawi, Stephen Jones, Bryan Lynn and Matt Belmore came away with singles victories for the Vikings, while Thomas and David Mazzawi paired for win at No. 1 doubles. Belmore and Matt Halliday got the second doubles win for WOHS.

"The middle lineup played well. Thomas played well. The Morton kid is good. The middle lineup played solid and we got some help from our one and three doubles."
